Who runs this site

joesmith.ai is run by Joseph L. Smith, an individual based in Massachusetts, USA (“I”, “me”). For any privacy question or request, email thehuman@joesmith.ai.

What I collect and why

• When you email me (the links on this site open your own email app), I receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. I use them only to reply to you.
• When you use a contact form on this site, it sends me your name, email address and message by email, for the same purpose.
• When you join the Offstage probe at /signal/, I store your email address, your name if you give it, the role and LinkedIn-use options you pick, your consent, the time you signed up, and a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address that cannot be turned back into the address. I use the scrambled form only to spot duplicate or abusive signups. I use the rest to send you the 3 emails over 14 days you agreed to, and to learn whether the digest is worth building. Each signup is also emailed to me.
• Visit statistics. I use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count page views. It sets no cookies and does not store your IP address. It records the page, the referring site, your browser type, screen size and approximate country.
• Server logs. My hosting provider, Hostinger, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) to run and protect the site.

What I do not do

• I do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
• I do not use advertising, tracking pixels or cookies.
• I do not add you to any mailing list you did not ask to join.

Who else handles your data

Only the services that run the site: Hostinger (hosting, the contact and signup forms, and the server logs), my email provider (the messages you send me) and GoatCounter (visit counts). Each processes the data only to provide its service. I may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long I keep it

• Offstage signups: deleted within 30 days after the 14-day probe ends.
• Emails and contact messages: kept as long as needed to reply and follow up, then deleted on request.
• Visit statistics and server logs: kept for the period set by GoatCounter and Hostinger.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from the Offstage emails at any time by replying “unsubscribe”. Wherever you live, you can ask me to tell you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete it: email thehuman@joesmith.ai and I will answer within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK, I rely on your consent for the Offstage emails (you can withdraw it at any time) and on my legitimate interest in replying to messages and keeping the site secure and working. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is for professionals. It is not directed to children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If I change this policy, I will update it on this page and change the date above.
